The Next Georgian
One of the most influential women in the state of Georgia over the past few years has become Stacey Abrams. The Yale and Spelman graduate has had quite the career, but maybe the first time she stepped into the national spotlight was during her 2018 run for the Georgia governor position. Abrams who lost her election was scrutinized greatly for not immediately giving up the election to Governor Kemp. Although her image and perception in the media took a hit, it seems that the Abrams that we saw helping in the 2020 senate runoff election was not too faced by her loss. Many people are attesting the win of congressmen Ossoff and Warnock to the efforts of Abrams.
As we are gearing up for a 2022 governor's election in Georgia, media is shifting to Abrams. Her efforts not only won Georgia blue congressional seats, but it also flipped the state in a presidential election. We have not see Georgia blue since 1992 and Abram's media presence will really determine the pull of voters for her come 2022. Georgia is one of many states who has never had a female governor, the win for Abrams would be monumental for women but especially women of color. We will patiently be waiting for 2022.
